چکیده

We show that that a certain class of semi-proper iterations does not add ω-sequences. As a result, starting from suitable large cardinals one can obtain a model in which the Continuum Hypothesis holds and every function from ω1 to ω1 is bounded by a canonical function on a club, and so ω1 is the ω2-nd canonical function.

Generalization of Canonical Correlation Analysis from Multivariate to Functional Cases and its related problems

In multivariate cases, the aim of canonical correlation analysis (CCA) for two sets of variables x and y is to obtain linear combinations of them so that they have the largest possible correlation. However, when x and y are continouse functions of another variable (generally time) in nature, these two functions belong to function spaces which are of infinite dimension, and CCA for them should b...

Entropy of Bounding Tori

Branched manifolds that describe strange attractors in R can be enclosed in, and are organized by, canonical bounding tori. Tori of genus g are labeled by a symbol sequence, or “periodic orbit”, of period g−1. We show that the number of distinct canonical bounding tori grows exponentially like N(g) ∼ eλ(g−1), with e = 3, so that the “bounding tori entropy” is log(3).

Correlation Pattern between Temperatur, Humidity and Precipitaion by using Functional Canonical Correlation

Understanding dependence structure and relationship between two sets of variables is of main interest in statistics. When encountering two large sets of variables, a researcher can express the relationship between the two sets by extracting only finite linear combinations of the original variables that produce the largest correlations with the second set of variables. When data are con...

On Passive Quadrupedal Bounding with Flexible Linear Torso

This paper studies the effect of flexible linear torso on the dynamics of passive quadruped bounding. A reduced-order passive and conservative model with linear flexible torso and springy legs is introduced. The model features extensive spine deformation during high-speed bounding, resembling those observed in a cheetah. Fixed points corresponding to cyclic bounding motions are found and calcul...

Satisfaction of Polynomial Constraints over Finite Domains using Function Values

This paper shows how the solutions of constraint satisfaction problems that involve only polynomial constraints over finite domains can be enumerated by computing the values of related polynomial functions at appropriate points. The proposed algorithm first transforms constraints, which are expressed as equalities, inequalities, and disequalities of polynomials with integer coefficients and int...
